Haringey HDV demolition

HDV update
31st Jan 2018

Following the announced resignation today of the Haringey Leader Claire Kober and her accepting now that the HDV is effectively dead in the water as she no longer has the time to push it through before the electoral purdah season starts in late March [for the May election] –and of course it remains ultra vires as the judge has yet to pronounce on our Judicial Review – I wanted to say how much the widespread solidarity, community interest and cross-cutting broad coalition of support has mattered. It is anything but just the internal battle with Momentum which Ms Kober purports it is. StopHDV is one of the broadest and most genuinely grass roots campaigns I have seen or been involved with [in over 50 years of fighting for social justice and with community and social care interests].

With the JR still to announce [or appeal for that matter] and much bias in the press, and other Labour authorities in London discomfited by this community upsurge, there is still much to fight for and ensure. Like a properly funded future for social housing. Neighbourhoods having a genuine say, and ballot, in any redevelopment schemes. Rent control. End to speculation as a driver of housing, and its lack for so many. And more such as Peoples Plans. I could go on.

But one vital occasion is now on Wedesday 7 FEBRUARY from 5:30 to 6pm at Ducketts Common, Turnpike Lane and then to Wood Green Civic Centre to demonstrate at the FULL COUNCIL meeting 7:30 called by Lib Dems and needing all the Labour councillors who have stated opposition to the HDV to vote for the motion against it. Be there if you can please.
