London eats out for web

London Eats Out – From Mediaeval Times to Today

Monday 1st June 2020.  7.00 pm.
An illustrated talk by Ruth Hazeldine.

Although we no longer can do so, Londoners have always eaten out. What we now call “Take-Aways” were a feature of London as far back at the 12th century. Fish and chips became our favourite take-away well into the 19th century and the word “restaurant” was not heard until 1816.

We are now restricted to eating in, but it is pleasant to remember when Londoners could eat out!

This is an online event delivered via Zoom. To book a place click here. Log in details will be sent to you on or before the day of the event.
